A number of enterprise app companies have committed to standardise public applications and development with ACE (App Configuration for Enterprise), an “open and vendor-neutral” set of standards intended to help businesses deploy secure business apps to users.
The 15 new members are bigtincan, Deputy, DocuSign, Dropbox, Everbridge, Imprivata, Kony, Lua, MicroStrategy, OnBase by Hyland, ScrollMotion, ServiceMax, Showpad, Syncplicity by Axway by EMC and Webalo.
ACE was launched earlier this year by AirWatch, Box, Cisco, Salesforce, Workday and Xamarin. Members are “committed to standardising and simplifying the way public applications are configured and secured for enterprise use”.
Using capabilities available for iOS and Android, ACE applications deployed via an enterprise mobility management platform are configured to automate first time set-ups; secure connectivity to corporate networks; avoid separate login requirements for each app; and prevent data leakage with a flexible set of security policies.
“The initial focus of enterprise mobility management was directed at securing the rapid increase of mobile devices in the enterprise. The challenge today is to unleash the power of productivity that these devices can offer the enterprise user,” said Brian Feller, VP of corporate development at Lua.
