Skyview Capital’s Syncplicity has unveiled new product enhancements that add a trusted network of partners and customers to the list of their enterprises' sharing and collaboration features. The file sharing and synchronization company indicates that this will give enterprise users a way to easily and securely share files and folders with trusted organizations. It will also provide control over in-flight data, all the while avoiding data leakage to non-trusted entities.
The new updates to Syncplicity utilize the service’s granular group-based policy engine, allowing enterprises to control how their data is being shared among all aspects of their organization: suppliers, partners, affiliated companies and customers. Moreover, administrators can customize sharing privileges with groups of users, or remove them altogether based on a specific roles and departments within the organization. These new policies also help to address security concerns that enterprises might have when enabling external sharing, as they can create an extension to their internal network.
Syncplicity indicates that their set of controls allows customers to:
Build a trusted digital environment for extending file sharing with partners and customers by assigning specific groups of users the domains with whom external sharing is approved.
Extend security controls and sharing policies to both outbound and inbound folder sharing separately, based on Active Directory group membership.
Leverage new folder re-sharing rights controls to override company-wide and group-based external sharing policies to ensure that users who are approved to share externally cannot expose specific confidential information.
Shut down data leakage by optionally setting inbound folder sharing for specific groups of users to be read-only.
